We are also going to backflip, ballroom, square, macarena, or two-step danced, wagon, unicycle, zombie, skip, hop or other walk - 1 at a time!
Last year all of the local media came together to lead the walk in the spirit of unity of community. This caused some to wonder if hell had indeed frozen over? This is this unity and compassion that John Mellencamp, Crystal Bowersox and many others in music industry notice and support.
To prepare those still living on our streets for the coming winter, we will be collecting 1Mile of socks (that's 5280 feet, or 2640 pair!) to distribute this year at Tent City. Please bring a pair or two of new socks to the walk if you can.
The need is greater than ever!
According to the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio, (COHHIO), since 2008 the number of unhoused in Toledo is up 25%. Every 1 Matters, right?
Yes, and the community response has always been exceptional. The people of northwest Ohio truly have a heart of compassion for others.
The 1Mile Matters Walk on October 9 is another chance to respond. This years walk ends at the Erie Street Market for "1Rocks", an all day benefit concert.
Please gather those around you who Matter to you and walk to support the 1's who Matter on our streets and in our shelters.

Once again John Mellencamp wants to meet the top walker and is donating a 2011 John Mellencamp "No Better Than This" VIP Ticket Package.
This package includes 4 GREAT tickets to the show in Grand Rapids, MI, November 1, and meeting with John after.

Roger Daltrey In Las Vegas
Roger Daltrey and AEG Live have donated two tickets to his performance of Tommy at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on October 22nd. This package includes airfare for two from Detroit on October 21st, two nights hotel, and the return trip on October 23rd.
If that's not enough, Harry Sandler has donated his one of a kind portrait of Roger taken in 1975.
Tickets are $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20. Two ways to get your ticket!
1) For every $5 dollars raised in the 1Mile Matters walk, you get 1 ticket. (Or 5 for $20 of course!)
2) Buy tickets in person at the 1Walks and 1Rocks events on October 9th. The drawing will be held live from the stage at the end of the 1Rocks benefit concert at the Erie Street Market on October 9.
